Students with Additional Requirements
The Student Accommodation Team is commited to ensuring that all students settle into their University accommodation as quickly and safely as possible. We therefore encourage all prospective and current students to disclose any additional requirements when applying for University accommodation.
For general advice and in the first instance, please contact the Disability Advice Centre here at the University. They have a wide range of experience in supporting
disabled students, those with specific learning difficulties, mental health
difficulties and other additional support needs. In the last academic year
Disability Advice Centre successfully provided disability, mental health and dyslexia
support services to over 700 students; information and advice is confidential.
We can offer a range of study bedrooms for students with disabilities and other additional requirements within several of our accommodation complexes. These include rooms designed for wheelchair users and for students whose disability requires additional space for special equipment. The University recognises that in exceptional cases students who are severely disabled or suffer from mental health disability or severe medical impairment could not attend University unless they are offered University Accommodation. The University will consider such applicants recommended by the University Medical Centre or the Student Support Services in accordance with the University Policies and subject to suitable accommodation being available.
All students who are eligible to apply online for their accommodation preferences
may do so from the relevant date. However the University cannot guarantee
to arrange appropriate support if adequate disclosure of disability or
medical history is not made, in writing, at the time of application. Applicants
who wish to notify us of specific medical conditions and/or physical disabilities
that should be taken into consideration during the allocation process should complete and return the Additional Requirements Application Form 2010/2011. Those students applying for 2010-11 accommodation please note we aim to make
the new additional requirements application form available after Easter,
sorry for the delay. In the meantime please email Matthew Waldron at adsmjw@bath.ac.uk
to register your interest.
As part of our emergency evacuation procedures we need to ensure that all students, staff and visitors are able to leave their accommodation safely at all times of day or night. If you feel you require assistance for whatever reason, please complete and return this questionnaire so it can assist in the development of a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) if required
