Frequently Asked Questions About Payment of Accommodation Fees 2008/9

1. When should I pay for my accommodation?
   • Accommodation fees are due on the 1st day of each accommodation session (please see your accommodation contract for dates), unless specified differently on the payment instruction/acceptance pages.
   • NB
     • If you accept and pay on-line by Credit or Debit card, the payment is processed at the time of acceptance and the payment is for the WHOLE year.
     • If you accept and pay off-line by Credit or Debit card, the payment will be processed from 01/09/08, (If you are a Postgraduate the £400 prepayment will be processed on receipt of the acceptance).
     • If you accept and pay by Direct Debit, the payment collection dates are as follows:
       • 06/10/08
       • 08/01/09
       • 21/04/09
       • 03/08/09 (Postgraduate contracts only)
2. How can I pay for my accommodation?

3. Where is the Accommodation Finance Office?
   • The Accommodation Finance Office is located on campus in building 6 West, room 1.3. Campus map. It is open Monday - Friday, 09.30 - 16.30
4. Can I pay for my accommodation in instalments?
   • Yes, but it is only possible to make either 3 or 4 payments per year depending on the length of your contract. Instalments are due on the 1st day of each session as set out in the accommodation contract. The easiest way to pay by instalments is to set up a Direct Debit which in 2008/09 will be collected on the 6 October 2008, 8 January 2009, 21 April 2009 and for postgraduate contracts 3 August 2009
5. Can I fax through my payment details (if accepting off-line)?
   • Yes, but not if you wish to pay by Direct Debit; Direct Debit mandates must be posted because an original signature is necessary.
6. When do I pay the postgraduate prepayment?
   • Postgraduate prepayments are due when you accept your accommodation contract, payment will be processed as soon as the acceptance and payment details have been received by the Accommodation Finance Office.
7. How can I pay my £400 prepyament?

   If you accept your accommodation contract on-line you will need to pay your prepayment of £400 by credit or debit card.

   If you accept your accommodation contract off-line you can pay your prepayment of £400 by one of the following methods:

   • Credit or Debit card
   • UK Bank Cheque
   • Bank Transfer
   • Banker's Draft
8. Under what circumstances can the £400 prepayment be refunded?

   • New Overseas/Home/EU Postgraduates

     Providing we are notified before the 18th September this prepayment can be refunded in full should the student be unable to take their place in Bath due to VISA problems or failure to meet the conditions of their course offer. If we are notified after 18th September then the prepayment will not be refunded, unless we are able to re-let the room by 25th September  2010.

9. When can I apply for ResNet (Residential Networking)?
   • You can apply for ResNet once you have accepted your offer of accommodation and it has been processed. See also Computing Services ResNet pages
