Student Mail Services

On Campus

There are two on campus Accommodation Mail Rooms which are responsible for all student letters, parcels and packages that are delivered to the University.

The Westwood Accommodation Mail Room is located at the rear of the Derhill accommodation block. Residents of the following accommodation can collect mail from this office:

The Eastwood Accommodation Mail Room is located in Woodland Court. Residents of the following accommodation can collect mail from this office:

Which Mail Room?

If you are collecting a package from last term, PLEASE COLLECT YOUR PACKAGE FROM THE WESTWOOD MAIL ROOM, irrespective of where you were living.

Mail Delivery

Normal mail is delivered to your kitchen group daily, for any items that require a signature you will receive an e-mail advising you to collect the parcel.

We receive many parcels a day. To help us to keep stored items to a minimum please try to collect your parcel or package within 24 hours of receipt of your e-mail.

In order for you to be able to collect your parcel will need to bring some form of Photogrpahic ID for example:

In vacation times mail is not delivered to the residences but can be collected from the mail room.

Off Campus

Post for off-campus residences is handled by the Accommodation Operations Co-ordinator. Normal mail is delivered to the kitchen area of your residence on a daily basis.

If you are sent any item of mail that requires a signature then you will be sent notification. This will also advise you of where the item is being held as some items may be delivered to the Off-Campus Accommodation Services Centre, Carpenter House.

Important Information regarding the sending of cash

Cash should not be sent through the post unless it is sent by regsitered or recorded post, we cannot accept responsibility for any lost cash.

Important Information regarding the sending and receiving of food parcels

The University has a strict policy on the sending and receiveing of food parcles from outside the European Union and works with the authority DEFRA (Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs). Food items can be vectors for disease and pests which can impact upon public health, livestock, plants and agriculture.

Where the Accommodation Operations department has strong grounds to suspect that a parcel or package contains illegal food items. (For example, if the packaging is damaged and the contents can be seen or there is a strong odour of banned food) The department will report any such parcels to the relevant enforcing authority.

A list of the main illegal and banned food items can be found below:

Meat and meat based products, including dried and cured meats and meat based stocks and soups. Not permitted.
Milk based products, including custard, milk powder, cream and cheese. Not permitted
Other products of animal origin, including eggs, egg based noodles, honey, fresh, dried or frozen fish, shellfish and fish based sauces and pastes. The rules for these items vary. Please check the DEFRA website.
Potatoes and potato seeds. Not permitted
Plant products including vegetables, fruits, herbs, spices, nuts, bamboo shoots and dried fruits. Generally up to 2Kg permitted but please check the DEFRA website to confirm.

Addressing mail

It is important that you ensure any letters are addressed correctly, where we are unable to trace a recipent of an item, it will be returned to the sender.

All letters should be addressed as follows:
