Student accommodation
welcome to the University of Bath Student Accommodation website - the place
to find about everything concerning accommodation during your studying at
Bath. The Accommodation Office, under the general control of the Head of Accommodation
and Hospitality Services, strives to exceed customer expectation through developing
service and standards by seeing into the future and creating it now.
The main activities of the Office are:
- management of all University residences.
- allocation of places in residences and provision of information regarding
privately owned accommodation. These are the particular responsibilities
of the Student Accommodation Manager.
- to provide help and advice with accommodation and associated problems
Application for Accommodation
The Student Accommodation Office regrets that it is unable to accept any more applications for accommodation as the waiting list that opened on 24 August is over-subscribed.
Therefore you need to seek private sector accommodation through the BathStudentPad database. Please follow the information and guidance given at the private sector accommodation section of our website, and use the BathStudentPad database to see what is currently advertised.
The University is planning to arrange another House Hunting Weekend on 11/12 September, and details of this event will be published by 4 September.
If you want to contact other students in a similar situation, use the BathStudentPad message board.
Twin Rooms 2010-11
We have introduced this year some twin rooms (for 2 students
to share) as a great value option. There will be one twin room in each
of the Eastwood Houses 1-19, for undergraduates. Each house accommodates
11-12
students sharing a communal kitchen and communal shower/bathroom facilities.
There will also be a number of twin rooms available in the John Wood complex
and the Lodge for older mature undergraduates or postgraduate students
sharing communal facilities with fewer students.
If allocated to a twin room, this will be your permanent room for the academic
year. If a sharer leaves or transfers to another room, for whatever reason,
before the end of the contract, the remaining sharer will have three options:
a) To find another UOB student within 14 days, not currently in university
residence, who wishes to share their room.
b) To keep the shared room for their sole use and to pay the increased
weekly rent for a large room
c) To move to a standard single room, which may be in another residence
The
cost of an Eastwood twin room will be £55 per person per week and sole use
of one of these rooms will cost £95 per week.
The cost of a twin room in the Lodge or John Wood complex will be £65 per
person per week or £95/£105 per week depending on size if occupied by only
one person.

Allocation Policy 2010-11
The Student Accommodation Allocation Policy is reviewed annually
in conjunction with the Vice-Chancellor’s Group; Registry and the President
of the Students’
Union and is subject to change. The Student Accommodation Office is committed
to ensuring that all applications are dealt with as fairly and transparently
as possible throughout the allocation process.
We never guarantee any preferences at any stage because it is impossible to determine
how many accommodation applicants will actually become 'unconditional firm'
students in August after the A-level results. Alongside this factor, is the
overwhelming demand for certain room types and complexes, such as Woodland,
Marlborough and Solsbury Courts which always exceeds supply in a relatively
short space of time.
Providing we receive an application by the deadline of 13th August
2010, University accommodation is guaranteed for one academic year from September
to:
• All new to Bath, full-time students in their first year studying
Bachelor’s and Master’s undergraduate programmes on the Claverton Campus.
• All new Foundation Year students based at the City of Bath College.
• All new full-time Foundation Degree in Sports Performance students
• All new overseas fee-paying postgraduates.
• A limited number of visiting/exchange students as determined by reciprocal
agreement negotiated through the Study Abroad Department at the University
of Bath
• Students with specific medical conditions. Please see this weblink
Please refer to the dropdown menu at the top of this webpage for further details relevant to your student type or prospective student type.
